iBR FA20DIT Intake Manifold Installation

This intake manifold is designed primarily for high HP builds and race applications. While we will provide basic support we do not recommend installation of this manifold if you are not comfortable removing the OEM manifold or if you do not understand the basic sub systems (EVAP, PCV, AOS……) on your car and how they function. If you have any concerns about installation we can refer you to a shop or help you find a shop that can do the installation for you. We have intentionally not included these instructions in the box with the manifold, with these being digital and live on our site we can provide you with the most up to date information and will continue to edit these instructions as time goes on. We are working on more pictures of parts in the engine bay and will be adding them here as they are completed and edited. Please reach out to mike@ibuildracecars.com with any questions or comments.

LOWER RUNNER SEALS

Install the OEM seals from the bottom of the complete TGV or OEM lower plastic TGV housing. Applying a light oil to any flexible seals will help prevent damage and increase the ability for the seals to function properly.

Bolting the Runners to the engine

On the drivers side you will have to bend the low pressure A/C line to the outside of the runner. On the passenger side you will have to bend the mount for the vacuum pump, relocate the pump or remove the pump completely for dedicated track cars. This is also a good time to go ahead and remove the engine lifting bracket that is right next to the A/C compressor, it will interfere with the new location of the throttle body.

ALIGNING TO HEAD PORTS

One of the unique features of this manifold is the ability to properly align the runners to the head ports. On most manifolds the clearance in the bolt holes make it so the manifold can be moved around a little but it is impossible to tell exact alignment. After you get the runners aligned go ahead and torque the manifold down to the heads.

INSTALL ORINGS INTO TOP OF RUNNERS

This step is pretty self explanatory. Lightly oiling the O-rings will reduce chance of damage during assembly as well as helping hold the O-rings in place while the parts are going together.

STARTING ASSEMBLY OF THE TOP CAPS

The top caps and center section will go together on the work bench before they are installed on the car. Start will flipping the top caps upside down and being carful to put something under them so you don’t scratch the top surfaces. The two top caps are identical. There isn’t a “left” or a “right” side at this point.

Bolting the center section to the top caps

While still working on the bench go ahead and bolt the center assembly to both of the caps. These holes are slotted to accommodate the exact alignment differences from lining up with the head ports in the second step. There are a variety of lengths so make sure to select the correct bolt for the correct hole. Leave the fasteners tight enough so the O-rings will not come out of the grooves but loose enough that the two parts can slide a little for alignment. Lubrication on the O-rings will help avoid an

Bolting on the throttle body

Tilting the manifold up on edge helps the throttle body O-ring stay in place. Reuse the stock throttle body bolts from the OEM manifold. Make sure to match the rotation of the throttle body. The coolant lines on the OEM throttle body can be removed or rotated to clear the alternator.

Installing the CENTER AND CAPS INTO THE CAR

Before sitting the assembly into the car double check that the O-rings are properly seated in the top of the runners. The caps each be moved slightly to ensure proper alignment between the two sides of the engine. Once everything is aligned and all the bolts into the runners are installed you can go ahead and start to torque the bolts. Start by doing a star pattern around the top of each of the runners then move to a star pattern where each cap connects to the center section.

INSTALLING T-MAP SENSOR and VACUUM LINE CONNECTIONS

We have supplied some barbed fittings for standard connections for the manifold. There are extra ports and extra plugs so that you can configure the connections as needed. Some suggested connections are as follows:

1/2” Barbed Fitting for AOS
3/8” Barbed Fitting for Brake Booster
5/16” Barbed Fitting for EVAP
5/16” Barbed Fitting for Recirculation or BOV

INSTALLING FUEL RAILS OR INJECTOR DELETES

All manifolds come with the injector block offs even if you have purchased the fuel rails with the kit. This allows you to have the rails ready if you plan to upgrade to secondary injection at a later date. For the fuel injectors this manifold requires a standard “Short EV14” size. An example injector that fits would be the “1050.34.14.14.4” part number from Injector Dynamics. This is also the same base injector ID used for the BRZ manifold compatible kit they offer, you just need to remove the adapter on the bottom and get a lager O-ring for the top seal.
